Non-Contemporary Novel Suggestions from Book Twitter
Twitter is usually such a nightmare spot--particularly Political Twitter, Celebrity Twitter, Pundit Twitter, etc. But Book Twitter is a bright spot! So friendly! Here is a great thread on "fun non contemporary novels for an upcoming book club." The tweeter says "Like Eve Babitz or Edith Wharton. Dreary, pretentious, overstuffed need not apply." The replies are a treat, such as Cold Comfort Farm, which I think we read. Enjoy!

Thanks for the trip down this fun rabbit hole, Carroll! I recently ordered one of these, now on my nightstand, Lolly Willowes. Now motivated to read it. Others in this thread, like An Excellent Woman, Cold Comfort Farm (is this same as the movie?), Love in a Cold Climate and The Dud Avocado, are now on my list. Thanks for sharing this.
