The Queen's Gambit: A New Series from a Book I Think We've Read

I'm pretty sure we read this book together, but it predates The List. Anyway, the series starts on Netflix Oct. 23 and seems to have quite the glamour gloss. Here's the plot description: "In a 1950s orphanage, a young girl reveals an astonishing talent for chess and begins an unlikely journey to stardom while grappling with addiction." Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Camp, Marielle Heller.

Update, November 14: Carroll binged-watched the series and reread the book. They're both damn good. The set design, costumes and makeup are wonderful. The series is quite faithful to the book, but it flips two of the book's scenes. The way they unfold in the book results in a much more poignant conclusion.

  1. O.M.G. I loved this series - we binged the F out of it! Everything about it was just wonderful, and painful sometimes, to watch!
